Current NHS Position:

Consultant Adult & Paediatric Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital surgeon at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital since 2015


Areas of expertise:

Children's eye conditions:

  • Children's eye conditions including anophthalmia, microphthalmia and other congenital deformities of the eye and the face.

  • Eyelid malposition/deformities including entropion, ectropion, Ptosis, coloboma, facial and eyelid scarring. 

  • Excessive watering, malformation/obstruction of nasolacrimal duct (tear duct)

  • Benign and malignant orbital tumours

 

Adult eye conditions:

  • Aesthetic surgical procedures in adults: Botulinum toxin (Botox) injections for the aging changes in the face and eyes, brow-lift, upper eyelid and lower eyelid blepharoplasty, fat-transfer and augmentation of adnexal tissues 

  • Malignancies involving the eye socket, orbit, eyelids and the face: Tumour excision and reconstruction of the orbit, lacrimal outflow system and other ocular adnexal carcinomas such as basal cell carcinomas, squamous cell carcinomas, sebaceous cell carcinomas etc.

  • Benign ocular adnexal tumours (Neurofibromatosis, haemangiomas, schwannomas), cysts (chalazion cysts, cysts of Moll, sebaceous cysts) and skin changes.

  • Infections of the orbit (orbital cellulitis), lacrimal apparatus (dacryocystitis), eyelids (blepharitis, pre-septal cellulitis), conjunctiva (conjunctivitis)

  • Auto immune and Inflammatory diseases of the orbit (thyroid eye disease, orbital myositis, idiopathic orbital inflammation), Lacrimal glands (dacryoadenitis) and the eyelids (eczema, psoriasis, blepharitis)

  • Dry eye/watery eye/tear outflow system obstructions

  • Eyelid malposition: Entropion, ectropion, ptosis (droopy eyelids)

  • Trauma: Immediate, early and late treatment of ocular, orbital and facial trauma and trauma related complications

  • Neurological diseases affecting the eye and eyesight: Facial nerve palsy, blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm

  • Eye removal, eye socket reconstruction, ocular prosthesis and rehabilitation

  • MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) 2000

  • MRCSEd (Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh) 2007

  • FRCOphth (Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (UK)) 2013

  • General Medical Council - Specialist Register since 2013
